For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro X7 Ultimate. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract cmv_2184.PspGradient file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/17.0/Gradients folder.
- Extract 25-cmv.bmp file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/17.0/Textures folder.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro X7 Ultimate, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm015_h000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open up cm015_h000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift + D). Close the original. In the Layers Palette, click on Raster 2. Layers - Delete.

2. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground to Gradient. On the drop-list, choose cmv_2184, Style: Linear - Angle: 45 - Repeats: 0 - Invert: Unchecked. Using the Flood Fill Tool (F), fill "Raster 1" with the gradient (left mouse button). Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur, Radius: 80. Effects - Texture Effects - Texture, with these settings: Texture: 25-cmv - Light color: #f7eafa.

3. In the Materials palette, set the Background color to: #f1edf1. Layers - New Raster Layer, set the Blend Mode to: Overlay. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 1 - Horizontal: -1 - Opacity: 25 - Blur: 6 - Color: #131313. Adjust - Sharpness - Unsharp Mask, Radius: 2 - Strength: 210 - Clipping: 4 - Luminance only: checked.

4. In the Materials palette, set the Background color to: #000000. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

5. In the Layers Palette, Highlight Raster 1. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Selections - Promote Selection to Layer (Ctrl. + Shift +P). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Layers - Arrange - Bring to Top. Image - Flip - Flip Vertical (Ctrl. + I).

6. Open up cm015h-1.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

7. In the Materials palette, set the Background color to: #9f7d9f. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 9 - Horizontal: 6 - Opacity: 40 - Blur: 10 - Color: #131313.

8. In the Materials palette, set the Background color to: #ffffff. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

9. Layers - New Raster Layer, set the Blend mode to: Overlay. Fill with the gradient (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #7 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

10. Open up Open up cm015h-2.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Edit - Paste as New Layer (Ctrl. + L).

11. In the Materials palette, set the Background color to: #9f7d9f. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #8 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
