For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract cmv_2173.PspGradient file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/14.0/Gradients folder.
- Extract 25-cmv.bmp file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/14.0/Textures folder.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm015_d000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open up cm015_d000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift + D). Close the original. In the Layers Palette, click on Raster 2. Layers - Delete.

2. Open up cm015d-1.jpg. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Selections - Select All (Ctrl. + A). Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Press Shift + G to adjust Gamma Correction: 3,30 - Link: checked. Effects - Texture Effects - Texture, with these settings: Texture: 25-cmv.



3. Open up cm015d-2.jpg. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to: Soft Light. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

4. Set Foreground to Gradient. On the drop-list, choose cmv_2173, Style: Linear - Angle: 0 - Repeats: 0 - Invert: Unchecked. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to: Multiply. Using the Flood Fill Tool (F), fill with the foreground gradient (left mouse button).

5. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground color to: #f2efe6 and Background color to: #9a6a4a. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to: Multiply. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

6. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to: Burn - Opacity to: 25. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

7. In the Layers Palette, select "Raster 1". Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Selections - Promote Selection to Layer (Ctrl. + Shift + P). Layers - Arrange - Bring to Top. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

8. Open up cm015d-3.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

9. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground color to: #404040. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to: Multiply - Opacity to: 65. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

10. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground color to: #f2efe6 and Background color to: #905500. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #7 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

11. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #8 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 1 - Horizontal: -1 - Opacity: 25 - Blur: 5 - Color: #404040.

12. Open up cm015d-4.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Edit - Paste as New Layer (Ctrl. + L).

13. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #9 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 7 - Horizontal: 10 - Opacity: 35 - Blur: 5 - Color: #404040.

14. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #10 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 2 - Horizontal: -2 - Opacity: 20 - Blur: 3 - Color: #404040. Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
