For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract cmv_1210.PspGradient file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/14.0/Gradients folder.
- Extract 15-cmv.bmp file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/14.0/Textures folder.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm014_y000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open up cm014_y000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift + D). Close the original. In the Layers Palette, click on Raster 2. Layers - Delete.

2. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground to Gradient. On the drop-list, choose cmv_1210, Style: Linear - Angle: 0 - Repeats: 0 - Invert: Unchecked. Using the Flood Fill Tool (F), fill "Raster 1" with the gradient (left mouse button). Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur, Radius: 45,00.

3. Layers - Duplicate. In the Layers palette, set the Blend mode to: Multiply. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

4. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to Multiply - Opacity to: 60. Fill with the gradient (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

5. Open up cm014y-1.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

6. Open up cm014y-2.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

7. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground color to: #227054 and Background color to: #89e8e0. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: -4 - Horizontal: -6 - Opacity: 35 - Blur: 15 - Color: #36291c.

8. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

9. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #7 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, same settings as before.

10. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #8 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

11. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to Screen. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #9 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.).

12. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to Multiply. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #10 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.).

13. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground color to: #fffebb. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #11 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 5 - Horizontal: 11 - Opacity: 35 - Blur: 15 - Color: #36291c.

14. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to Screen. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #12 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

15. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #13 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 2 - Horizontal: -2 - Opacity: 90 - Blur: 6 - Color: #36291c.

16. In the Materials palette, set the Foreground color to: #f3f0e0 and Background color to: #87671b. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Foreground color (left mouse button). Effects - Texture Effects - Texture, with these settings: Texture: 15-cmv.



Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #14 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical: 5 - Horizontal: 11 - Opacity: 35 - Blur: 10 - Color: #36291c.

17. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Opacity to 50. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #15 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

18. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #16 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

19. Open up cm014y-3.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Edit - Paste as New Layer (Ctrl. + L). Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
