For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract the cmv_49.jpg files to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/14.0/Patterns folder.
- Extract cm014_h000.PspScript file to My Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/14.0/Scripts-Trusted folder.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm014_h000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

Drop script by Dynamic Drive




1. Open up cm014_h000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift + D). Close the original. In the Layers Palette, click on Raster 2. Layers - Delete.

2. Set Foreground to Pattern. On the drop-list, choose cmv_49, Angle: 0 - Scale: 50. and your Background color to: #57453f. Using the Flood Fill Tool (F), fill "Raster 1" with the background color (right mouse button).

3. Open up cm014h-1.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

4. Layers - New Raster Layer. Flood fill with the pattern (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Edit - Clear (Delete Key). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

5. On the same layer: Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Press Shift + G to adjust Gamma Correction: 1,70 - Link: checked. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

6. In the Materials Palette, change your Foreground color to: #efebe7. Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Fill with the foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

7. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen.

8. In the Materials Palette, change your Foreground color to: #ffffff. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow, Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 60 - Blur: 3 - Color: #57453f.

9. Layers - New Raster Layer. Set the Blend mode to: Multiply. Fill with Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #7 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

10. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #8 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

11. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #9 - Load. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen.

12. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #10 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

13. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #11 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

14. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with Background color (right mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #12 - Load. Edit - Clear (Supr.). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

15. In the Materials Palette, change your Foreground color to: #efebe7. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the foreground color (left mouse button). Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #13 - Load. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

16. Open up cm014h-2.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Edit - Paste as New Layer (Ctrl. + L).

17. On the Script toolbar, Category: Scripts-Trusted. On the drop-list, choose cm014_h000 and click the Run Selected Script button.



Wait to finish the script. File - Save (Ctrl. + S).

18. Open your Animation Shop. Open the file you've just saved. Edit - Select All (Ctrl. + A). Animation - Frame Properties (Alt + Enter) - Display time (in 1/100th sec): 10. File - Save As: the_name_of_your_choice.gif.
