For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro 12.50. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract cmv_2056.PspGradient to My Documents\My PSP Files\Gradients folder.
- Extract cmv_35.jpg to My Documents\My PSP Files\Patterns folder.
- Extract 35-cmv.bmp to My Documents\My PSP Files\Textures folder.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro 12.01, but may be done with previous versions.

Note: When you open the cm010_j000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open up cm010_j000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift + D). Close the original. In the Layers Palette, click on Raster 2. Layers - Delete. Set your Foreground to Gradient. On the gradient drop-list, choose cmv_2056, Style Linear - Angle 135 - Repeats 2 - Invert Unchecked. Fill "Raster 1" with the gradient. Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur, Radius: 30. Effects - Texture Effects - Texture, with these settings: Texture: 35-cmv - Light Color: #ffffff.



2. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #f7f1e1. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

3. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #3b210a. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

4. Open up cm010j-1.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

5. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #543a1c. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

6. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #faf5de. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Adjust - Sharpen - Sharpen.

7. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #ab8700. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal 0 - Opacity 25 -  Blur 1 - Color #472b0f. Layers -Merge - Merge Down. Adjust - Sharpness - Unsharp Mask: Radius 1 - Strength 75 - Clipping 0 - Luminance only: Checked. On the same Layer: Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #7 - Load. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Brightness/Contrast (Shift + B): Brightness: -60 - Contrast: 20. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

8. Open up cm010j-2.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #8 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

9. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #4d290d. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #9 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

10. Set your Foreground to Patterns. On the patterns drop-list, choose cmv_35, Angle 0 - Scale 100. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the pattern. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #10 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). On the same Layer: Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #11 - Load. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Brightness/Contrast (Shift + B): Brightness: -30 - Contrast: 20. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

11. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the pattern. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #12 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). On the same Layer: Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #13 - Load. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Brightness/Contrast (Shift + B): Brightness: -35 - Contrast: 20. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

On the same Layer: Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #14 - Load. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Brightness/Contrast (Shift + B): Brightness: 35 - Contrast: 20. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Layers - Merge - Merge Down. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical -5 - Horizontal -4 - Opacity 100 -  Blur 20 - Color #472b0f.

12. Open up cm010j-3.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #15 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

13. Open up cm010j-4.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
