For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro 12.01. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro 12.01, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm009_r000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open up cm009_r000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift. + D). Close the original. In the Layers Palette, click on Raster 2. Layers - Delete. Using the Flood Fill Tool, fill Raster 1 with color #a8968f.

2. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #534845. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Edit - Clear (Delete). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Layers - Merge - Merge Down. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen More. Selections - Select All (Ctrl. + A). Selections - Float (Ctrl. + F). Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout: Vertical and Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 100, Shadow color #6e5d53, Fill interior with color unchecked. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

3. Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Select All (Ctrl. + A). Fill with color #a8968f. Selections - Modify - Contract - Number of pixels: 3. Edit - Clear (Delete). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

4. Open up cm009r-1.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

5. Open up cm009_paper1.jpg. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical 0, Horizontal 8, Opacity 35, Blur 15, Color #534845.

6. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #cabdb7. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Edit - Clear (Delete). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical 1, Horizontal -1, Opacity 35, Blur 1, Color #534845. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal 5, Opacity 50, Blur 10, Color #534845. Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.

7. Open up cm009_paper2.jpg. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical 0, Horizontal 8, Opacity 35, Blur 15, Color #534845.

8. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with color #a8968f. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Edit - Clear (Delete). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

9. Open up cm009_picture.jpg. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #7 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal 0, Opacity 50, Blur 30, Color #534845.

10. Open up cm009r-2.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl. + C). On your working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #8 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
