For this tutorial you will need:


Corel Paint Shop Pro X2. Download a trial version here
Supplies here


- Extract cvm_2024.PspGradient to My Documents\My PSP Files\Gradient folder.
- Extract cmv_paper_05.bmp to My Documents\My PSP Files\Textures folder.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools. It was written using Corel Paint Shop Pro X2, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm008_c000.pspimage file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open the cm008_c000.pspimage. Window - Duplicate (Shift + D). Close the original.

2. Set Foreground to Gradient. On the drop-list, choose cvm_2024, Style Linear, Angle 45, Repeats 0, Invert unchecked. Fill "Raster 1" with the gradient. Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur - Radius: 18. Effects - Texture Effects - Texture, with these settings:



Texture: cmv_paper_05.

3. Open cm008c_transparency.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste as New Layer (Ctrl. + L).

4. Open cm008c_celtic.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #1 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

5. Set your Foreground to #f3f1f3 and your Background to #ebe5e8. Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #2 - Load. Fill with the foreground color. Selections - Modify - Contract: 20. Fill with the background color. Effects - Texture Effects - Texture, only change Size %: 25. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 35 - Blur: 20 - Color: #808080.

6. Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #3 - Load. Fill with the foreground color. Selections - Float (Ctrl. + F). Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout: Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 25 - Blur: 40 - Shadow color: #c3aeb7 - Fill interior with color: Unchecked. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 15 - Blur: 8 - Color: #808080. Adjust - Sharpness - Unsharp Mask, with these settings: Radius: 1,00 - Strength: 100  - Clipping: 5 - Luminance only: Checked.

7. In the Layers Palette, click on layer "Raster 1". Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #4 - Load. Selections - Promote Selection to Layer (Ctrl. + Shift + P). Layers - Arrange - Bring to Top. Image - Flip (Ctrl. + I). Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout: Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 50 - Blur: 60 - Shadow color: #808080 - Fill interior with color: Unchecked. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 55 - Blur: 20 - Color: #808080.

8. Layers - New Raster Layer. Fill with the foreground color. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #5 - Load. Press the Delete Key. Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D). Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow: Vertical and Horizontal: 0 - Opacity: 20 - Blur: 4 - Color: #808080. Adjust - Sharpness - Unsharp Mask, same settings as before.

9. Open cm008c_xmas.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Layers - New Raster Layer. Selections - Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From Alpha Channel - Selection #6 - Load. Edit - Paste Into Selection (Ctrl. + Shift + L). Selections - Select None (Ctrl. + D).

10. Open cm008c_frame.pspimage. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste as New Layer (Ctrl. + L). Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
