For this tutorial you will need:


Adobe Photoshop CS3. Download a trial version. here
Supplies here


- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop CS3.


Note: When you open the cm008_u000.psd file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to alpha channels.


Remember to save often.

1. Open the cm008_u000.psd. Image - Duplicate. Close the original. Set your Foreground to #fff7f1 and your Background to #b47b72. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Foreground Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked.

2. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 01. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Background Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D). Layer - Merge Down (Ctrl. + E).

3. Open cm008u-1.psd, file provided. Select All (Ctrl. + A). Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Select - Load Selection - Channel: 02. Edit - Paste (Ctrl. + V). Layer - Merge Down (Ctrl. + E).

4. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 03. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Foreground Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D).

5. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 04. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Background Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D). Layer - Merge Down (Ctrl. + E).

6. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 05. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Background Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D). Image - Adjustment - Brightness/Contrast: Brightness: -25 - Contrast 5. Layer - Merge Down (Ctrl. + E). Layer - Merge Down (Ctrl. + E).

7. Open cm008u-2.psd, file provided. Select All (Ctrl. + A). Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Select - Load Selection - Channel: 06. Edit - Paste (Ctrl. + V).

8. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 07. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Foreground Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Filter - Texture - Texturizer, with these settings:



Layer - Layer Style - Inner Shadow: Blend Mode: Normal - Opacity: 50% - Set Color of Shadow: #b47b72 - Angle: 0 - Use Global Light: Checked. Distance: 0 px - Spread: 0%. - Size: 30 px - Contour: Linear - Anti-aliased: Checked - Noise: 0. Layer - Layer Style - Drop Shadow: Blend Mode: Normal - Opacity: 75% - Set Color of Shadow: #b47b72 - Angle: 0 - Use Global Light: Checked. Distance: 0 px - Spread: 5%. - Size: 10 px - Contour: Linear - Anti-aliased: Checked - Noise: 0 - Layer Knocks Out Drop Shadow: Checked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D).

9. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 08. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Foreground Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D). Layer - Layer Style - Drop Shadow, same settings as before. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D).

10. Layer - New - Layer (Shift +Ctrl + N). Select - Load Selection - Channel: 09. Edit - Fill (Shift+F5): Use: Background Color - Mode: Normal - Opacity: 100% - Preserve Transparency: Unchecked. Select - Deselect (Ctrl. + D).

11. Open cm008u-3.psd, file provided. Select All (Ctrl. + A). Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Select - Load Selection - Channel: 10. Edit - Paste (Ctrl. + V).

12. Open cm008u-4.psd, file provided. Select All (Ctrl. + A). Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Select - Load Selection - Channel: 11. Edit - Paste (Ctrl. + V).

13. Open cm008u-5.psd, file provided. Select All (Ctrl. + A). Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). Edit - Paste (Ctrl. + V). Layer - Merge Visible.
