For this tutorial you will need:


PhotoImpact X3 - Download a trial version. here
penta.com - color dot here
Supplies here



- Extract 35-cmv.bmp to My Documents\My EasyPalette.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PI and its tools. It was written using PhotoImpact X3, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm011_u000.ufo file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to Selections. Do not duplicate this file because it won't work.


Remember to save often.

Drop script by Dynamic Drive





1. Open cm011_u000.ufo file provided. Object - Delete.

2. Selection - Select All (Ctrl. + A). Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Image - File: cmv_2078-1.jpg - How to fill: Fit the image - Merge: Always - Transparency: 0.

Photo - Blur - Gaussian Blur - Options: Radius: (0.1...300): 20 pixels - Expand outside object: Unchecked.

Effect - Fills and Textures - Texture Filter. Effect: Embossed.



Click in Texture image: Add Texture, window will open. Browse to My Documents\My EasyPalette, and load 35-cmv.bmp, with these settings:



Photo - Light - Brightness and Contrast (Ctrl. + B), only change Brightness: 5 - Contrast: 12. Photo - Sharpen - Sharpen - Options: Level: (1...100): 20 - Noise reduction Level: (1...10): Unchecked. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

3. Selection - Load Selection - Select-1. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Image - File: cmv_2078-2.jpg - How to fill: Fit the image - Merge: Always - Transparency: 0.

Photo - Blur - Gaussian Blur, same settings as before. Effect - penta.com - color dot, with these settings: value: 20 - distance: 2 - Color R - G - B: 255.

Object - Shadow, with these settings: Shadow Color: #63919F.



Photo - Sharpen - Sharpen, same settings as step 2. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

4. Selection - Select All (Ctrl. + A). Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Image - File: cmv_2078-3.jpg - How to fill: Fit the image - Merge: Always - Transparency: 0.

Photo - Blur - Gaussian Blur, same settings as before. Photo - Light - Brightness and Contrast (Ctrl. + B), only change Brightness: 5 - Contrast: 8.

5. On the same layer: Selection - Load Selection - Select-2. Selection - Invert. Press the Delete Key. Selection - None (Shift + G).

6. On the same layer: Selection - Load Selection - Select-3. Press the Delete Key. Selection - None (Shift + G). Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

7. Selection - Load Selection - Select-4. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Object - Shadow, same settings as step 3, only change Transparency to 0.

8. In the Layer Manager, select your two top layers while holding down the Ctrl key. Object - Merge as Single Object. Photo - Sharpen - Emphasize Edges - Options: Level: (1...5): 2. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

9. Open up cm011u-1.ufo. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste - As Object (Ctrl. + V). Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General, Merge: Overlay - Transparency: 21. Position & Size, Left: 242 - Top: 36. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

10. Selection - Load Selection - Select-5. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow).

Object - Shadow, with these settings: Shadow Color: #63919F.



Photo - Sharpen - Emphasize Edges - Options: Level: (1...5): 5. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

11. Selection - Load Selection - Select-6. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Repeat step 9.

12. Selection - Load Selection - Select-7. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Color: #285365 - Merge Always - Transparency 0. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

13. Selection - Load Selection - Select-8. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

14.Selection - Load Selection - Select-9. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Color: #74A2AD - Merge Always - Transparency 0. Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General, Merge: Overlay. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

15. Open up cm011u-2.ufo. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste - As Object (Ctrl. + V). Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). Position & Size, Left: 471 - Top: 7. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

16. Open cm011u-3.ufo, file provided. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste - As Object (Ctrl. + V). Object - Merge All (Ctrl. + Shift + M).
