For this tutorial you will need:


PhotoImpact X3 - Download a trial version. here
Supplies here


- Extract 29-cmv.bmp to My Documents\My EasyPalette.
- Extract all files to a folder of your choice.


This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PI and its tools. It was written using PhotoImpact X3, but may be done with previous versions.


Note: When you open the cm010_q000.ufo file you will see a blank canvas. It's not empty: it contains all the selections needed, saved to Selections. Do not duplicate this file because it won't work.


Remember to save often.

Drop script by Dynamic Drive





1. Open cm010_q000.ufo file provided. Object - Delete.

2. Selection - Load Selection - Select-1. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Color: #30504D. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

3. Selection - Load Selection - Select-2. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Image - File: cmv_2058.jpg - How to fill: Fit the image - Merge: Always - Transparency: 0. Photo - Blur - Gaussian Blur - Options: Radius: (1...300): 30 - Expand outside object: Unchecked. Effect - Fills and Textures - Texture Filter. Effect: Embossed.



Click in Texture image: Add Texture, window will open. Browse to My Documents\My EasyPalette, and load 29-cmv.bmp, with these settings:



Click Ok and select "Apply Current Frame Effect to Image". Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

4. Open cm010q-1.ufo, file provided. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste - As Object (Ctrl. + V). Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General: Merge to Soft Light - Position & Size, Left: 47 - Top: 47. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

5. Selection - Load Selection - Select-3. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Photo - Sharpen - Emphasize Edges - Options: Level: (1...5): 5. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

6. Selection - Load Selection - Select-4. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Color: #30504D. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

7. Selection - Load Selection - Select-5. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). Edit - Fill (Ctrl. + F) - Select Color: #e0e4e5. Object - Shadow, with these settings: Shadow Color #525C5A.



On the same Layer: Selection - Load Selection - Select-5. Selection - Border. Border width: 2 - Direction: Inward - Shape: Box - Anti-aliasing: Checked. Photo - Light - Brightness and Contrast (Shift + B): Brightness: 15. Selection - None (Shift + G). Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

8. Open cm010q-2.ufo, file provided. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste - As Object (Ctrl. + V). Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). Position & Size, Left: 186 - Top: 127. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

9. Object - Select All Objects (Ctrl. + Shift + A). Object - Merge as Single Object. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter). Rename it "Base"

10. Selection - Load Selection - Select-6. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "1".



11. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-7. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "2".

12. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-8. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "3".

13. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-9. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "4".

14. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-10. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "5".

15. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-11. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "6".

16. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-12. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "7".

17. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-13. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "8".

18. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-14. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "9".

19. In the Layer Manager, Select Base Image. Selection - Load Selection - Select-15. Selection - Convert to Object (Ctrl. + Shift + O). Object - Arrange Order - Bring to Front (Ctrl. + Alt + up arrow). In the Layer Manager, hide Object. Rename it "10".

20. Open cm010q-3.ufo, file provided. Edit - Copy (Ctrl + C). On the working image: Edit - Paste - As Object (Ctrl. + V). Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). Position & Size, Left: 0 - Top: 44. Object - Deselect All Objects (Enter).

Animation

1. Open your "Ulead GIF Animator 5". File - Open Image (Ctrl. + O). Open the file you've just saved. Frame - Duplicate (Ctrl. + F). Duplicate it 9 times (for a total of 10).

2. In the "Frame Panel", click on "1:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "1". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.



3. In the "Frame Panel", click on "2:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "2". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

4. In the "Frame Panel", click on "3:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "3". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

5. In the "Frame Panel", click on "4:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "4". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

6. In the "Frame Panel", click on "5:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "5". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

7. In the "Frame Panel", click on "6:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "6". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

8. In the "Frame Panel", click on "7:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "7". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

9. In the "Frame Panel", click on "8:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "8". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

10. In the "Frame Panel", click on "9:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "9". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

11. In the "Frame Panel", click on "10:Frame". In the "Objects Manager Panel", click on "10". Object - Properties (Ctrl. + Shift + Enter). General - Show: Checked.

12. File - Save as - GIF file (Ctrl. + Shift + S). The_name_of_your_choice.gif.
